A Computational Social Science Approach to Examine the Duality between Productivity and Cybersecurity Policy Compliance within Organizations
January 1, 2018

Employees often face a conflict between productivity and adhering to cybersecurity policies, which can lead to decreased performance and increased stress. The emphasis an organization places on productivity versus cybersecurity influences how employees balance these responsibilities, with decisions often driven by habitual behavior rather than rational cost-benefit analyses. This research explores how varying workloads, organizational culture, and the friction between compliance and productivity impact employee stress and contribute to patterns of noncompliance at the organizational level.
